In 2009, Women’s Resource Center provided crisis and stabilization services to more than 55,000 individuals in our region through our many programs. Women’s Resource Center at 20 Adams Street provides the following services to individuals and families: information and referrals, food, clothing, hygiene items, and household items. WRC is the only full service agency in our community and the only agency to house blended families.
We are honoured to be able to offer so many programs to a community and we know that each contribution we make is returned in full by our friends, donors, and clients in one way or another. But without the direct support we need in the form of gifts, grants, in-kind donations, volunteers, and more, we would simply be unable to operate and therefore unable to, in return, provide the support we do to the community.
Volunteers fill in the missing places in our staff and they are an incredibly important part of what we do and how we do it. A volunteer maybe be a steady contributor, such as Angela, our receptionist, or Nicole, one of our food bank workers. A volunteer may also be in a more temporary position or only work with us a couple times a year at the Teddy Bear Tea or the holiday food bank. Both types of volunteers are equally important to our organization. We value creativity, heart, and dedication in a volunteer. Our needs change frequently which is why we encourage you to call us, stop by, or email with ideas of what you might like to do or the skills or talents you feel you might bring to the WRC and its clients.
In-kind donations can be as simple as a vase of flowers for the International Women's Day Breakfast, as large as a truckload of Christmas presents for Bruce residents, or something more long-term such as your company's services becoming an intergral part of the WRC. In-kind donations also include any food or clothing you might bring in for their respective banks - more information on what we specifically need is updated and included on the Needs List.
Financial Gifts are simply that: monetary donations. They may be given anonymously or by a well-known friend of the WRC. They may come in on a regular basis or arrive as a one-time donation. Sometimes they are in memory of a loved one or for a particular program we run, like Share Care. Whatever form or amount we receive these donations in, each one is greatly appreciated. We rely heavily upon the financial support of like-minded donors who share our passion for revitalizing and stregthening our communities and families. If you would like to donate, have questions about programs you can support, or wish to know what your donation might be used for, please call or email and we will be delighted to discuss the difference you can make. To give a donation via credit card, please call 509-662-0121 (ext. 7) for Denise Miller. Thank you!
